When choosing a therapist, it is important to make sure that your therapist is appropriately trained in CBT. In Dublin it can be difficult to access CBT from suitably qualified therapists. Many therapists who have training in other types of therapy (Counselling, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Humanistic Therapy) and advertise themselves as CBT Therapists, may have covered "some" aspects of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) on their training course, but that does not qualify them as CBT practitioners, even though that is what they advertise themselves as. If it is CBT you are interested in, don't be afraid to ask if their training course was a formal CBT training course over a period of two to three years.
