CBT for trichotillomania
Trichotillomania (TTM) is characterized by the recurrent pulling out of one’s hair resulting in noticeable hair loss. people with TTM report tension prior to or during pulling and pleasure, relief, or gratification when pulling. In addition, pullingt results in significant impairment or distress in day-to-day functioning in the absence of reported tension prior to and/or relief when pulling This practice is particularly commonplace in children and adolescents but often lasts in to adulthood as a means of mood regulation. It can be treated with cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
